Phil Meadows aka “Slick 50” hails from North England in A small town called Keighley, where it didn’t take him long to get the music bug, and in that I mean spinning vinyl. He moved to France at an early age and became the resident DJ at the Stadium in the French Alps, whilst playing other nights in and around the country. In England he warmed up for the Freestylers, playing the backroom in the Faversham in Leeds. Going back to France Slick opened a bi-weekly event called Cosmic Slop at the Cantina in Chamonix. Cosmic Slop ran for several years and had a worldwide melting pot of sounds and talent, with special guests Nick Hoax, Ronnie Size, Vexta, Itchy and Scratchy. Slick 50 quickly became the resident DJ for the world renowned Cham Jam Music and Snow Sports Festival where he played alongside Leftfield, Pressure Drop, Ash and Krafty Kuts. At this time Slick was also a showcase player at all Onboard Snowboard Magazines events and media launch parties throughout Europe. Slick then picked up the pace a little with a new bi-weekly night 100% British playing up front new school house which received rave reviews. Inspired by the success of previous events Slick opened the long awaited Lizard Lounge the first of its kind in the Alps its here where he set the stage for amazing gigs that saw him playing with Cut Le Roc, Krafty Cuts, MrC and John Carter and was the main player in the Big Beat Boutique alpine assault. With a brief break from the music Slick moved to the other side of the world re-creating himself in Sydney,Australia. Locked in the studio for a year and then bursting out with a new night Earpump which culminated with an amazing event for the renowned Sydney
Mardi-Gras. Bored with a lot of the club music that was out there Slick decided it was time to release his torrent of music and with a string of tracks under his belt boasting airplay on the renowned FBI Radio 94.5FM he locked in his first Asian tour SET TO GO OFF. Well hell, You be the judge check out.
and our Dj Wash brings you
DJ Guy (Drumology, Airbourne, Bassics / Sydney, Austraila) DnB
Having grown up listening to hip hop, Guy discovered other breakbeat sounds in the late 90s. This quickly turned him onto drum & bass, jungle and 2-step/garage. These new exciting sounds led Guy to borrow a friend's turntables and start mixing records, the borrowing didn't last long though as he was hooked! Originally the neuro and tech sounds became his style, but this soon changed to a diverse range of styles, focusing mostly on drum & bass with reggae & dub, soulful "liquid" and breakbeat-driven "choppage" influences. Guy began DJing around the Sydney dnb scene regularly, as he joined the established Airbourne crew along with Good Looking Records’ Vice Versa, DJs Alf, Munk, Lucian and Bo.S. He also began other promotional ventures including 10 Count, Bassics with Hong Kong's DJ Wash (Kongkretebass) and Drumology. Guy brought pivotal dnb figures like Ed Rush & Optical, Calibre, Breakage, Friction, SP:MC, Chris Inperspective, Aphrodite and Bad Company )EIB( to play in Sydney. He also played supported acts like DJ Bailey, Patife & Marky - the Sydney scene flourished.Nowadays Guy’s taste has diversified to the sounds of leftfield hip hop and dubstep as well as drum & bass, and this can be heard in his sets today which always roll with deep soulful dub sounds, heavy heavy basslines and hard hitting drums. 10 years of DJing means Guy will always bring his A game of tight mixing with a variety of styles on show.
